Getting to San Miguel de Allende by air

- Leon Airport (Code: BJX) is about an hour and a half from San Miguel. It is by far the most used for people traveling to San Miguel. There are several direct flights a day on various airlines from Houston and Dallas. Frequently known as Bajío Airport.

- The Mexico City Airport (Code: MEX) is another option, but it is slightly further away from San Miguel, compared to the Leon Airport

- Another option would be Querétaro Airport (Code: QRO), which has fewer flight options, and is about an hour away from San Miguel.

Both the Leon and Querétaro Airports offer group shuttles and private drivers. We do not recommend renting a car, as San Miguel is definitely a walking city.

Shuttle service from BJX/QRO to San Miguel de Allende

Getting from the airport to San Miguel de Allende is easy and smooth. BajioGo is the best shuttle service at a reasonable price. You can either book online or call them direct. They have several options for either shared or private shuttle.

We recommend booking round-trip service since they do fill up. Ride time is approximately 90 minutes from BJX to San Miguel de Allende.

While in San Miguel de Allende

Although a majority of places within town are walking distance, Uber and taxis are easy to find. Rides are very inexpensive to anywhere in town. Standard fare within town is 30 pesos (Approx. $2 USD), more at night or to an outlying district. When hailing a cab, be sure to discuss pricing with your driver before agreeing to the fare.

Please be sure to use the Green and White Taxi Cabs when hailing cabs.

Lodging Recommendations

We have reserved a block of rooms at Rosewood Hotel for our guests, please call the hotel and use the code “Wedding of Veronica and Rafa” for the discounted rate.

You can also email vero@veroyrafa.one to learn more about the cost.

Even though San Miguel de Allende is a small town, traffic and parking can get tricky due to its narrow streets and high number of tourists. It is recommended to stay in the downtown area (zona Centro) and use taxis or Uber instead, which are completely safe.
